Far gulls row across a pale lagoon
of summer blue sky.

Mosquito fish rise to morning light,
kiss the division of water and air.

Small deer whisper from iris shadows
as a passing hawk climbs.

I wake to half-asleep love, shoulders and hands,
ascend your elegant length.

You move me galaxies beyond this redwood room,
take me to the abyss of majestic new worlds.
