On Saturday, January 8, we boarded a jet at San Francisco International Airport and flew through the last of the storm front to lovely Kauai. At Lihue Airport, we picked up our battered little Jeep and drove through the perfumed jungle to Suite Paradise condos at Poipu Beach, our home for the next nine days.
Here is the view just outside the condo, in the parking area. |

As usual, Ollie has raised the bar on our accommodations. This trip, we are staying in a gorgeous, two bedroom, two and a half bath, townhouse condo overlooking the beach. |
Our dining room and living room open out onto a huge lanai. The lanai contains a little round glass table, chairs and two lounges. This is just one of the two lanais--the second is just outside the master bedroom. |
Once again, Mary from Condo Ready had stocked the shelves and refrigerator with every possible food or snack or beverage we could possibly want. |
This is our master bedroom--an immense king size bed and an unbelievable view. We also have our own bathroom with a tub, oversized shower, and two sinks. |
The second bedroom was a total surprise. |

Following tradition, we watched sunset from our lanai while enjoying a light plate of pupus and cold chardonnay. After, we walked three blocks to Casa de Amici where we dined on quatro fromaggio risotto, asian salad, and an exquisite entree of poached salmon with black tiger prawns over linguine with a cognac/lobster sauce. Our first day in paradise ended with a thunderstorm and lightning show unlike anything we've ever seen in our lives. We slept through the deluge, dreaming of the adventures coming this week. |
